December 19, 2011

Dear Fam fam,

This week has been very difficult. I hope it`s just because it`s almost Christmas.

Funny story... for you guys at least. On Monday that one Snakey Girl from the terminal (that time when I was picking up Elder Villabla) appeared again. She suddenly appeared and she was all like "hey what`s up blah blah blah". I tried to escape by saying "we have an appointment", but she said "oh okay I`ll go with you", so we walked around for half an hour doing contacts with her bugging us. She left for a little bit after getting bored, but she came back. She repeated this like five times. I don`t know how she kept finding us, but she did. When we got back to the pension we drew drawings of her as a giant snake and I had to fight her. Tuesday The snake found us again at the terminal while we were waiting for a bus after district meeting. We were with two more missionaries and one is tall and blond, but she didn`t even notice them, just me. More drawings of snake battles at night.

Wednesday we ate lunch and then did divisions. I was with Elder Rodeback from Minnesota. It was a nice break talking in English. Elder Rodeback must be lucky or something because the people that I really wanted to visit were home and we had great lessons with them. First was Andrea and Eulogio and Rosa Velazquez. They are kind of progressing. Then we finally found military guy Sergio Sosa and finally taught him the Restoration. Good lesson, accepted Baptismal Invitation.

Thursday we tried setting up the map. Tape doesn`t work with styrofoam. Wasted 2 hours of Plan Guasu trying to do that. Gave up though. Ate spagetti for lunch. That morning Elder Rodeback broke the water tank, so we had to stick around 2 hours after lunch while the Dueño tried to fix it. Didn`t do a good job.

Friday we talked to Carlos Faraone again. He said he would read the Book of Mormon and look for an answer, but he would not, I repeat NOT, accept a baptismal date. He kept saying "don`t rush me Singson" and I would say "It`s just a goal, we won`t baptize you if you aren`t ready", but he wouldn`t accept. Later we taught Victor who actually has been reading the Book of Mormon. All he needs to do now is start praying and go to church. The last option is going to be hard though because he is taking a long vacation to visit his family in Argentina and he won`t be back until the end of January. Ugh.

Saturday we ate rotisary chicken for lunch and Lomito Arabe for dinner. I didn`t have to pay for any of it. It made me happy. Sunday there was a football game and nobody let us talk to them. They all went crazy afterwards. I kinda felt like I was in danger.

That was my week. Bwye bwye,
Elder Zachary James Singson

December 12, 2011

First things first, Sorry Dad I forgot to say something last week... ¡Happy Birthday!
I`m such a bad child.

Anyways I got your packages last week. Thank Gma And Gpa for all the goods (Especially all the beef jerky). All the candy is gone now though, but that`s what you get for sharing, oh well. I really liked Job 34:31 and the Chastisemints. The satan heads really creeped me out. To every time there is a "seasoning" was really funny. You put 3 Nephi 27:14, but I think you meant 13, I really liked the mini preach my gospel. I still have no Idea how D&C 88:124 connects with now and laters. Mosiah 4:16 was funny, ha ha succor. I liked everything, but those are the ones I remembered most. The music you sent doesn`t work with my music player by the way, I`ll have to find a way to change the format.

On to the week!

Tuesday the bus left early, so we had to wait 30 minutes for the next one to Coronel Oviedo. Then once we got there we waited 45 minuted for a bus to take us to the capilla for district meeting. It was frustrating. Got my packages though. We taught a guy we randomly found in the street named Carlos Andino, the first thing he asked is "why don`t you guys believe in Maria?" He is just crazy enough to become a member. Later we taught Victor his sister Mirian Medina and invited them to pray to find the truth and see if they should get baptized. Victor says he doesn't like to be obligated to do things and he has very little faith, but he said he would try it. What surprised me was when Mirian said "I`m fine how I am. We explained to her authority again, and she said she would pray, but it didn't seem like she even cared. I`m not sure what will happen.

Wednesday was depressing because we taught a guy and he accepted a baptismal date, but he lives in the other elders area. Thursday I learned a new word Bochorno or Bochornoso. While we were eating at Flia Gomez`s they got into a huge fight and afterwards my comp taught me that new word. It basically means Embarrassing. That day we taught Lorenzo after not being able to teach him for a long time. Lorenzo told us a bunch of crazy Catholic church stories. I`m not sure if he will change, but I can`t believe how gullible and blind this people are. If people get possessed every time you go to a Catholic activity ¿Doesn't that mean that Satan is constantly present? Isn`t that the logical explanation? To me it seems so obvious, but I also have the spirit of discernment with me, so I guess I can`t blame them. But I will anyways ¡Que Bochornoso!

Friday we taught 7 lessons. It was Virgin Maria day or whatever, so we taught a bunch of random people who were at home. The first lesson was at 11am to a drunk guy (Drunk at 11am?). I showed him Galatians 5 were it says that Drunks can`t go to heaven and he cried. Then we gave him a Word of Wisdom and a lesson 3 pamphlet, because it talks about repentance. I`m pretty sure his entire family was drunk. He kissed our hands goodbye Eww! Later we taught a guy who believes in the book of mormon and Joseph Smith, but it doesn't matter, he is still catholic. Ugh! Third random guy started out as a contact, but by the end he wanted to read Joseph Smith History to learn more about him.  The fourth random guy was a drunk who contacted us outside the church. He wanted us to "cure" him of his Alcoholic ways, so we did a kneeling prayer on the sidewalk and gave him a Word of Wisdom pamphlet. Problem is he doesn't want to choose to give it up, he just wants a quick and permanent fix.

After English class, with only one student, we went and taught Victor again. He actually read the part we left him and more, so he had some questions for us. I talked too much, but besides that the lesson went really well and he says he will read the Book and Pray. On the way to the house we contacted a guy named Carlos Faraone. He asked me (In poor English) "Would you like to drink water with me in my House?" So he took us to his house (Chuchi) and bought us Sprite and Empenadas and he let me hold his pet monkey. ¡¡AWESOME!! Then we taught him and he accepted a baptismal invitation. ¡¡Double AWESOME!! Turns out he is friends with our lawyer member Hno Mercado, so he already has a good connection with the church.

Saturday we talked to Carlos Andino again and all I can say is he watches TV too much. Sunday a bunch of random people came to church including Jose (Who is gay) with a "friend". Later we taught Lorenzo again. He almost dropped us, but I`m to smart. He also told us more crazy Catholic stories. We gave a blessing to a dying lady, who is mother of an investigator, and we taught her entire family The Plan of Salvation. They didn't listen very well, but at least we are on the good side of our investigators. Alcidez Brisuela dropped us after a very long explanation of why. He says he wants to search for the truth on his own and not be influence by anybody. 20 lessons this week ¡¡WOO!!

LOVE YA,
Elder Zachary James Singson

December 5, 2011

Hello Family,

This week is a little boring. A lot happened and then a lot not. So I`m exhausted.

So the changes that happened were very eventful, so instead of waiting till Tuesday during District Meeting they told us Monday. Elder Yaringaño got changed to Ayolas by the river, so he spent our Pday cleaning, packing, stressing, etc. When we left to proselyte all we did was say goodbye, no lessons. Tuesday we all went to Coronel Oviedo and did divisions all day and wednesday everybody left.
For my divisions I was with Elder Wistinsen. He practiced Brazilian Jujitsu, I connected really well with him. That night there was a Farewell party for Elder Skinner who went home. At 1am I took Elder Skinner to the terminal and was supposed to pick up my Comp. Unfortunately my comp didn`t arrive on the bus we thought. So I was alone for an entire 10 minutes on my way back to the zone leaders pension. It was really dangerous because there are always Prostitutes that work on that road. Then I waited for the next bus to arrive at 3:30am and went with the Zone leaders to the terminal.
My new Comp, Elder Villalba from Argentina (Huhui or something like that), and I were supposed to take a bus back to Villarrica at 4:30am, but it didn`t come, so we ended up waiting until 7:30am to catch a different bus. During this time we talked and saw all the other Elders arrive and leave. Turns out that Elder Villalba is practically a Latin version of Elder Parker. A random member girl from Asuncion asked for my Facebook and a Book of Mormon. So I asked for references from Villarrica. She gave me the references so I complied. Anyways we got back to Villarrica at 8ish.
The zone leaders gave us permission to sleep in for a bit because I only got 2 hours of sleep before hand. Slept in until Lunch at 1pm. Ate at Flia Mercado`s. Went to pick up my clothes. Randomly there was a crazy storm that only lasted 30 minutes. Wierd. Cleaned up the pension of Elder Yaringaño`s junk and let Elder Villalba unpack. Pulled out money and bought food. Didn`t really do anything else.

Thursday was a Plan Gua`u (Fake). I basically just went through all the Investigators and gave Elder Villalba background information on them. We went out to work, but didn`t really accomplish anything. Celebrated a birthday of an investigating family`s little girl. Did tons of contacts, but we can`t get in any lessons. Sometimes we get lucky, but the people don`t really want to progress they just were being polite. That is how the rest of the week went.
Friday I taught English class by myself again. Saturday we celebrated 3 more birthdays. Hna Raquel, Elder Pastul, and Miguel Àngel all had thier birthday on that weekend so we ate an Asado. Sunday I think the food gave me chivivi, so we couldn`t follow our plans because I had to stay close to the house. 36 people came to church.

Sorry that this week`s email was kind of lame, but you get what ya gat and you don`t throw a fat... chick out the window.

Love ya,
Elder Zachary James Singson

November 28, 2011

Heeeeeeeellllllllooooooo,

Monday we had awesome Pday plans, but it rained. So OPA (finished, ended, done, etc in guarani) to our plans. Tuesday we had the same problem. One thing that was really interesting though was we contacted some Iranians and they invited us into their house. Their names are HooShanq and Foruogh Ahktad Howadi (very difficult to pronounce). They believe in a religion called Bahà`ì. Their religion accepts all the other religions in the world because they all worship the same God.
They "believe" in Christianity, but their knowledge of Christianity is very little or they would realize that it contradicts what they believe. They also believe that Jesus wasn`t the Christ, just a prophet, and that thier "Prophet" was Christ. So it was really hard to teach, because as we were trying to teach them they were trying to convince us of their religion. I don`t know if it was because of custom or they didn`t really want to listen, but they wouldn`t cooperate.

Wednesday we went back to try and teach Dispensations, to HooShanq, but that didn`t work out. There was a lot of "fighting" to show who was right. Several times he said "If you prove to me what you say is true then I will believe". So we said, "Ok read the Book of Mormon and ask God, he will tell you". Then he said "why would I pray about something I don`t believe is true?" I guess it makes sense in his mind, but the Baha`i claim to be seekers of truth, so I don`t know why he wouldn`t do it. Plus a couple of times he said "I want to know if it`s true", but apparently not by praying.

Thursday... Thanksgiving. Well they don`t celebrate Thanksgiving, but I did eat like a pig for lunch with Flia Gomez. Chicken, Milanesa, Potatoe salad, Normal Salad, Bread, Juice, Watermelon, Desert, etc. It was great.
Friday was English class. Less and less people are coming. Is it even worth it? I hate teaching... besides the Gospel.

Saturday was fun. We did service for an old lady in the morning before lunch because we can`t be alone with women we brought an 18yr old member named Jonathan with us and he helped out. We mowed her lawn, cut her weeds, burned her garbage, etc. Paraguay only has an electric motor, so I had to plug it in from the inside to reach one side of the house. I went out the back and ran up the 4 steps to get to the backyard. The fun part was I didn`t see the wooden beam at the top of the steps.
Bam! I hit my head. I learned a little about equal and opposite reactions when it forced me to fall backwards, I learned about gravity when my foot slipped and I couldn`t catch myself, then I learned about how good of a stunt man I will be in two years when I landed on my back unscathed. My head didn`t even hurt, my butt did a little though.
Well later that day we went to a family who was preparing for a wedding, so we got to eat wedding food. Then we ate cake at an investigators house who owns a bakery. Then we ate more when we went to watch "Joseph Smith Prophet of the Restauracion" with an investigator family. I`m glad we got fed so much cuz I gots no moneys. Only enough to pay for internet and travel to Oviedo for exchanges.

Sunday was depressing because it didn`t rain, so there was no excuse for people not to come. There was 40 people, but no investigators, and a ton of them promised they would come. What makes it worse is I got a terrible sun burn on my neck from service yesterday.

That`s my week. Love Ya¡

November 21, 2011

What a week,

Tuesday I had divisions with Elder Anderson. Tall Blond Football player. He is always smiley and funny, but bad at Spanish. Anyways it felt good to talk in English again. Man they have a bunch of inspired people in their area. We taught a Joven lesson three focusing on his doubts about baptism. After the lesson he said he didn`t have doubts anymore because he says he "Feels" that this is true. He accepted a baptismal date and even came to church on Sunday even though it rained. We also saw a Toucan, then gave baptismal dates to 3 random college students we randomly taught. I wonder how that went later on. Kneeling prayers from each of them, that was awesome.
Wednesday I reunited with my comp and he annoyed the crap out of me all day. He made the plans and he planned the lessons and he did the contacts and he did the teaching. It was all him, I did nothing. The only times he let me do anything he told me exactly what I had to do and say, so is it really me who is doing it? Or is it just him coming from another body? He had a self righteous attitude that made him unbearable, so I just shut off my brain.
Thursday after Weekly Planning we had a companionship inventory and I felt better.

Friday was the super amazing Zone Conference. We got there at 7am ready to sit for a long time, but that`s not what happened. Oh! First. The first assistant to the President was a Latin and he had a special change and went home, so now my Favorite Elder, Elder Love, is now an Assistant to the President. I was shocked when I saw him, I knew that one day he would be an assistant, but I was waiting for it to happen in a normal change. Anyways for Zone Conference we studied 2 Nephi 31 really well to understand our purpose as a missionary better. It was really spiritual and awesome. Later we watched the President do some really funny practices on obedience. We also played basketball, golf, and a bunch of other activities that applied to our work as missionaries. It was awesome!
For lunch we had some really good Chicken Sandwiches and Empenadas. I know that God loves me again. There were three hidden toothpicks in the sandwiches. I took a big bite and I found the first one, but instead of being vertical it was horizontal. So instead of stabbing me in the roof of my mouth and causing damage, or something similar, It just hurt my tooth a little. Was it coincidence or Love of God?
After all the great lessons learned it was about 3:00pm. So we took a bus home. We would have gotten back right at 5pm to teach English classes, but one of the tires on the bus exploded, so we got back an hour late. There were still people to teach, but most of them went home, so we started our English class an hour late. Then it was Noche de Rama.
Saturday we taught 4 lessons before 3pm, but then we didn`t get anything done the rest of the day because of 3 emergency bathroom runs. 2 by my comp and 1 by me. Then we went to the baptism at 6pm. Although it was supposed to be at 6, of course, it didn`t start till 7. The other Elders baptized two kids. Gabriel and Santiago. Their parents will probably get baptized sometime in the future, but they still have some doubts. The kids didn`t want to wait though. Elder Anderson had a really hard time with saying the prayer correctly. It took him 10 times at least. So we ate brownies and juice and watched a movie.
Sunday it rained, but the kids and their family (The Paniagua´s) came anyways and had the confirmation. 27 people came, which is a lot more than when it usually rains. At 3pm there was a bus accident and one of the inactive member´s, Jose Martinez, dad died. The dad is a non-member, but the main reason why Jose doesn`t go to church anymore. Earlier that morning Jose called and said he wanted his patriarchal blessing and was asking what he had to do to get it. This might be the perfect oppertunity to reactivate him, teach his nonmember family, and maybe even his nonmember and not married girlfriend with her baby. ¿Who knows?
One thing is certian though. I AM SUPER HAPPY! YAAAAY!

Love Ya`ll,
Elder Zachary James nosgniS

November 14, 2011

This week wasn`t nearly as exciting as last week.

Monday night we talked to the Flia Villalba and they tried to drop us, but with the help of the spirit and saying "We aren`t trying to change your religion, we are only trying to help you find the truth and follow God`s will. Will you pray to find out if this is the true church and ask God if it is his will to join this church?" That`s plus or minus what I said, but it worked well.
Tuesday was District meeting and wow was it gloomy. Elder Pastul is so boring. Everybody looked like they wanted to die. There was no energy in that room. Even the Hermanas were sitting there with an angry look on their face. It kinda sucked.

I have another cool story for you guys though. We went to the Flia Gomez`s house and they gave us Watermelon! Yay I love watermelon. It wasn`t the best in the world, but it sure is refreshing when it`s so stinking hot outside. Anyways I left my bag with my scriptures on the chair outside. While we were eating Andrea had a thought that she needed to go outside to turn off the fan that they left out there. When she went outside she saw a little kid (6 or 7years old) with my bag about to walk out their gate. When he saw Andrea he dropped the bag and ran away. Cool huh? Just like the time when I left my bag in the capilla and Hna Raquel walked in right when somebody was about to steal my camera. I`m pretty sure God loves me.

Wednesday there was supposed to be a movie night for youth and investigators, especially the ones that always come to play Soccer in the church. Well the movies that the president downloaded wouldn`t work so we brought the "Joseph Smith the Prophet of the Restauracion" instead. Only the investigators and members watched it and the Jovens played soccer outside. Hna Raquel burned all the Popcorn too so the church smelled really bad and was filled with smoke. Not the best movie night ever.
Thursday it rained, Friday too. Friday I had really bad Chivivi, but Elder Anderson brought me some Pepto Bismol. I am so greatful for that. Too bad that there is no such drug in South America. Anyways Elder Pastul and I taught English class for the first time. Only a bunch of little kids and a school teacher showed up. I don`t know if it will be worth it if it continues like this. We played a little soccer for Noche de Rama against a thousand little kids. It was impossible to move up and down the field with the ball because you didn`t want to step on any of them.

Saturday Villarrica had a tournament of soccer against Coronel Oviedo. Oviedo won the first 2 or 3 games, so they got prideful. Then came the fall. After that Villarrica won so much they became bitter and started playing dirty. We helped out a little with the spiritual side and crowd control for lunch, but we were told that after we left Oviedo started being worse. The funny thing is that all the nonmembers are from Villarrica and they acted better.
That night we found my English Student and taught him. His name is Alcidez Brusuelda or something like that. His wife and two kids are Blonde as Germans. They were in a hurry because thier Grandpa was having a Birthday party, but we were able to teach them Lesson 1 and they liked it. We invited them to get baptized, they accepted, but we didn`t have time to set a date. That`s ok, next time.

Sunday it rained again and only 13 people came to church. One of them was a recent convert and his friend and investigator. I ask ¿If a recent convert and an investigator can walk 20 minutes in the pouring rain without an umbrella, What is wrong with all the other members out there? I am disappointed.
Instead of trying to teach Flia Villalba again we gave them a list of Soul Searching Questions that the Book of Mormon answers. So now they can get a personal testimony of the Book of Mormon. Turns out that their Daughter Diana was the investigator we have been searching for since forever. So now Diana, Genoveva (Mom), and Fausto (Dad) each have a book of Mormon and a question that they want answered that can be found in the Book of Mormon. Hope that works well.

November 7, 2011

Haldo Family,

This week was quite eventful compared to others.

Starting with Tuesday, The Hermanas were in Asuncion for Capitations, so Elder Pastul took the opportunity to Drop the Cane. We received some new rules from President Callan and Reinforced a lot more, so that`s what we talked about in District meeting. I got some dear Elders ¡Yay! So besides the letters when we finally got back to Villarrica we taught a lesson with Pdte Arriola and his wife for the first time. We taught the Flia Villalba. It went well. Turns out that Pdte Arriola knows everybody that we visit, so we are just going to ask him for references from now on. Later we passed by the church and talked to the Guys that always go there to play soccer. Lots of them are actually interested.

Wednesday we taught an old guy named Wenseslau Chamorro. He listened, but nothing registered. Here in Paraguay I always feel like Ezekiel 33:32. Look it up and know what the day and the life of a missionary is. Tell me if you don`t get it. We were passing by a cyber and we saw Hna Ramona there. Turns out that her son owns the place, so we went in and taught him. He is a really guy. Too Catholic for my taste, but maybe one day from the help of his mom he will read and pray about the Book of Mormon. We talked a lot with him and he said he would read.
While walking around we found a guy we talked to once, so we decided to stop by. His daughter invited us in. Cezar, the dad, had to go to work, so he told us another time we could pass buy. When we went outside the daughter started talking to us and I noticed a Poster. I looked at it and it showed partially naked women posing. I rapidly turned the poster over and the Daughter, Janee, noticed. She asked "Oh, you don`t want to come to my party". Of course we said no, but we found out this 17yr old girl is the very person who organizes the Sodom and Gomorrah parties that happen in Villarrica. She buys the beer and hires Underwear models to come to dance, so that more guys will pay to come. I was shocked. We asked her why she does it, and she says she likes being sexy and wearing immodest clothes that show off her body.
I felt the impression to show her my pictures you guys sent me. I also blatantly told her that what she can`t live with God if she continues in her ways. Looking at my pictures almost made her cry. I asked her if she wants this kind of happiness. She responded "I wish my family was like that". I told her we can help her, but she needs to stop doing the thing she is doing. Since we can`t talk to her alone we invited her to a Noche de Rama. She was busy but will come next week and we will probably teach her family in the future. We have seen her doing some pretty crazy things in the streets since then, but I don`t believe she is happy.
Later that night we went to visit Sergio Sosa but he wasn`t there. Turns out that somebody that works on the inside and a bunch of other people tried to rob the military base just outside of Villarrica. Now Sergio works, eats, and sleeps guarding the base until further notice... Dang. So we went to visit Miriam and ended up teaching her and her brother, Which is funny because she said that he wouldn`t like it, but he was intrigued at the very least.

Thursday we were walking by the University called UPAP when randomly some guy comes out and says "Hey I want to talk to you guys, Can you come by at 2?" Turns out that he is the Director of the University and wants us to teach English and Religion in his University (Pay us to teach). That was a no go, but we told him that we could teach English Class in the church, so now he has a bulletin posted and about 30 people signed up. We also talked a little and he says that he hates how ignorant his country and people are, and insulted further the Paraguayans. Everybody that leaved Paraguay has the same opinion, especially if they went to the US. He asked us for a Book of Mormon too. Cool guy. At lunch I ate 3 plates of Ravioli, a slice of cake, and 1/8 of a watermelon, plus other stuff. I felt like I was going to explode! My stomach wanted to kill me.

Friday we had division with the Zone leaders. ¿Why? Cuz my comp needs special attention. I stayed with Elder Alexander (For the 3rd time) and we found a Future RM investigator. His name is Fabian Gimenez and he is Gold. He reads for Comprehension and he said "Can I go on a mission?" we said "If you get baptized and prepare" then he said "When can I get baptized?" Now he has a baptismal date for the 3 of December, Dad`s B'day. I hope he keeps it because he is Gold. Basically the rest of the day was filled with contacts because all our plans fell. Pdte Lugo, President of Paraguay, came to Villarrica. We didn`t know this until we walked down the street where all his security personnel were. There were probably 40 armed military guys. We contacted a group of them. I was suprised they didn`t ask for our papers. Besides the Guards and some reporters, we were the only ones in the street. I don`t know why Lugo was there, but it was interesting.
We planned a Cita with Sonia to teach her, but she decided to go pray to the Virgin in the Catholic church instead. She isn`t well in the head anyways, so we decided to drop her. We also talked with Flia.Villalba I think they talked to their preacher or something because they are also scared of talking to us. The wife still wants to listen, but she says she has doubts and her husband doesn`t want to change his religion. After all this crap I needed a boost so after buying an Ice Cream and some Watermelon we turned in for the night.

Saturday I reunited with my companion. I realize now how bad of a robot he is when he teaches and does contacts. He is so monotone! It was rainy so we lost all our appointments. We went to the house of one of the Investigators that plays Soccer at the church all the time. He invited us in, but it turns out that his older sister is getting married at 8pm and everybody was busy. So instead of teaching we helped them out. Service is Key, just like Ammon did, so I don`t mind. Their family is awesome I hope they get baptized. They seem interested. Nothing else happened that day.

Sunday was fast and testimony meeting. I totally forgot, but I paid my fast offering anyways. I bore my testimony. Everybody else has been testifying about tithing and I felt impressed to share my testimony on tithing as well. What happened shocked me to the extreme. While I was sharing my experience of paying tithing and not having enough to completely pay for my mission, I started talking about the members of the ward donating money for my mission. At this point I started crying uncontrollably, but not in the normal way. I wasn`t sniffing and my eyes weren`t swelled up and my voice didn`t change too much, but I suddenly felt an immense amount of gratitude and the tears came out of my eyes like a water fountain. I felt the spirit super strongly and intense heat and tingling and other things I can`t describe.
I wasn`t expecting that. I think that was the first time I`ve cried since Jack Frost. You will have to thank all the members for me. If it made me cry during my testimony I owe each of them a hug. I wish I could feel what I felt right then always. I guess I`ll have to wait until I reach the Celestial Kingdom though. Huh... Outer darkness last week, Celestial Kingdom this week. I`ve experienced the two opposites. I was surprised that I didn`t feel the spirit nearly as strong in my life. Not even in the Temple, but in a simple and sincere testimony of Tithing.

Right now I`m out of time, but I hope you got at least a fraction of my week. Marisa said that I needed to tell at least one good story every letter. I think this one covers at least 3 weeks of good stories, but I`ll keep trying to tell more.

Love,
Elder Zachary James Singson

October 31, 2011

It really is a Happy Halloween, Why? Because it rained, so no immodest girls wearing costumes in the streets this year. Ha ha ha ha ha!
Unfortunately I have no time to take pictures. Also we were told not to take them around with us as a safety precaution. I don`t have time for anything!!!

I had a bad week.
First off on Monday there was a power outage. I experienced what outer darkness is like. It`s like being trapped in a small room without food, water, or light. It`s hot and super boring. You can`t even read your scriptures or use the bathroom. And because it`s raining you can`t go outside either. Living like that for an hour was enough for me. Power came back midnight.
Tuesday was better because I got reembursals, so I could eat again. But I got no letters Boo!!! Hna Arnell, the newbie, is 6 feet tall! She is a basketball player from Utah and she can speak Spanish really well, but she can`t understand anybody.
Wednesday Raquel, our only good investigator, said she would be going to another church. We asked for one last chance to teach her. She said yes so I was stressed out the rest of the week.
Thursday we visited a family of less actives that we found by chance. There was a guy named Jose who said he knows the church is true, but it`s easier following Satan. He is a conformist, he is ok with the Terrestial Kingdom. Janee his friend also a member has also adopted his Ideals. I could have cared less that he doesn`t want to do what God says, but Jose took an hour to say it. Fortunately we found a potentially good investigator, her name is Laura. Laura has some family conflicts, but she says she believes the church is true.
Friday we found a contact we were looking for all week. We talked briefly about the church and gave them a pamphlet. I played soccer in Noche de Rama. The missionaries versus the members. The members won (we went easy because they were all older women). All my antibiotic pills are gone and my toe stopped bleeding so I thought it would be ok. I ran around in my boots, no problemo.
Saturday it rained again. Mirna the "wife" of a member and sister of Raquel dropped us. She says Jose, her "husband", doesn`t want to go to church and her family is against her. Really sad. We did teach Flia Villalba though. They are GOLD, the wife even said in the Prayer "Heavenly Father we want to get baptized, help us know that we are making the right choice". ¿Awesome huh? That was the highlight of my week.
Sunday was sad though. I gave a talk about how to get help from the lord. We went to teach Raquel, but she wouldn`t come. She says lame excuses like "you guys worship Joseph Smith, The Bible is the only book, blah blah blah, etc." So we dropped her. I`m not exactly sure why she is acting so lame, but she has been to the church thrice and even to General Conference, and she went by herself. She has seen how we are, but after visiting her family her pastor uncle must have scared her too much. I felt really bad for her decision but then relieved because her Salvation isn`t on my shoulders anymore.

I`ll be more posotive next week,
Elder Zachary James Singson

October 17, 2011

The definition of Leviathan is Dragon of Chaos that came from out of the sea and Rebelled against God.
That`s how my week has felt.

Well on Monday I finally found a Lady who knows how to cut hair and do it cheap. She is awesome. We gave the other Elder`s the reference, she lives in their area. I was sad that we can`t teach her. She has a sad past. She told me, I don`t know why, but everybody thinks I am a perfect person to tell their secrets.
Then we played Soccer with a bunch of kids. They all smoke, it`s sad. Even sadder were my soccer skills. My ingrown toenail didn`t help though either.

Tuesday I got the package from Gma/pa. I shared with my district. I was surprised because Hna Lewis ate all the beef jerky and lots of the Candy. It`s surprising because Hna Lavaka (Big Tongan Girl, who normally eats a lot) didn`t even eat as much as Hna Lewis.
It was a try to save the Inactives kind of day. They always say Thank you and I`ll go to church, but it`s all LIES. Another way to teach avoiding dishonesty is describe a Paraguayan and say Don`t be like that.

Rained Wednesday, so no appointments worked out. We finally dropped the Flia Adorno, because the husband nearly kicked us out of their house. My comp always talks about Saint Worship before it`s time. They need to accept Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon is true before we should mention anything about that kind of thing. I left My Testimony and phone numbers of the Missionaries in Coronel Oviedo for the Daughter, Karina, for when she moves there.

Thursday we did plan Guasu, ate lunch with Flia Gomez, and the Lady was mad because she prepared for 4 and the other 2 didn`t come. Great. Afterward me and Elder Sanderson went to Paso Yobi. I guess it`s part of our responsibility. The bus went on only dirt/empedrado roads and made tons of turns so it took forever to get there. We also didn`t realize that we left both the cell phones with our comps. All we did was follow the Branch President around and he taught the lessons because they only speak Guarani. Unfortunately this could become my area if they put Hermanas in Villarrica. I hope that doesn`t happen quite yet.

Friday... So because it`s such a hassle to go to Paso Yobi we stayed overnight. We stayed in the Garage of the Branch President on the Beds of missionaries that used to work in Paso Yobi. When we had to use the bathroom we had to use the Church`s bathrooms. Fortunately the Bathrooms work even though the Capilla is made of wood.
I picked up a bunch of chicks. There were so many and so cute! What are you thinking?!? I meant baby chickens! Gosh! One of them was sick and I had to nurse it back to health. There were so many farm animals it was ridiculous. We "taught" 5 lessons with the Branch President. We had to wait until he was done working, because we don`t know the area and didn`t want to get lost. They fed us every meal, so that was good. We stayed overnight again, but got up at 4:30am to catch a bus back to Villarrica. We stayed up till midnight talking. The bus didn`t come till 5:30am and unfortunately because of terrible roads and the fact the the buses decided to race I didn`t get any sleep.

Saturday we switched back with our comps. I had really bad Chivivi from the food we ate, so we spent most of the day going back to the Pension and using the Bathroom. I had to go to the store to buy apples, bananas, sprite, and crackers to help calm the chivivi. It was very painful
We did teach one lesson to an inactive who always avoids us and his nonmember wife. We finally get to teach them and my comp ends up insulting me in the lesson. "My companion always talks a lot. He likes to talk pointlessly." Crap like that. The night was almost over so we went back to the pension and had a fight. I punched him really hard in the arm because he said that I wouldn't do it. Then I called Pdte Callan and he talked to both of us. We had a companionship inventory and I told him that if we don`t start being 100% obedient we will be miserable for the rest of our lives. He finally got the point and I`m going to help him become better and better myself in the process.

Sunday was District Conference in Coronel Oviedo. Not as many people showed up as I thought. Pdte Callan was there so we had a talk with him and he basically told us he is going to keep us together. I knew he would. We need to be together for some reason right? Elder Anderson gave me a pepto bismol for my Chivivi and I will be eternally grateful.

Monday today. We left for Asuncion at 4am to remove my Ingrown toenail. It`s been bugging me since the second month in Paraguay, so I`m glad to finally get it out. I got 3 shots in the toe and then the doctor started working away. He cut out a giant chunk of nail that was cutting underneath the skin. It was infected pretty bad so he also cut out the dead skin and dead nail that was remaining. I've been wearing my Swat Boots since the year mark, but I had to switch back to my broken pair because the shoe on my left foot needs to be really loose. It should stop bleeding by tomorrow and I should walk normal again in 3 days. It won`t grow back right for 6 months though. I should avoid excessive exercise for a month.

I was actually out of time a while ago, so I gotta go,
Love ya,

Elder Zachary James Singson

October 10, 2011

Family,

How art thou? Ist thine days splendour? Well played sir, well played.
Anyways on to the Nonchalant Arcadian Magistrate with the weather.

This Tuesday we had district meeting. The Zone leaders were there and reminded me that I need to live the law of Obedience, Sacrifice, and Consecration. Also they threw in "Eventually a missionary has to stop thinking about himself". Ouch, that one hit me hard.
Later we tried teaching Sonia. Now she is telling us that she saw Joseph Smith in a white robe and other evil spirits in normal clothes were chasing her. Thankfully Pdte Arriola was there and spoke to her in Guarani. She gets what we are telling her a little more now. Hopefully with time she will become normal when she is filled with the light of truth and not the confusion and chaos that fills her mind now from the darkness that proceeds from listening to false doctrines the are born from the minds of man and their invented churches.
Writing fancy takes up more space.

Wednesday we taught the military guy Sergio about the Book of Mormon. Because he wants to learn English (Which was his primary objective) we gave him a Book of Mormon in English. He actually reads fairly well, he just has a thick Latin accent. So finally he asked what the Book of Mormon is and so we taught him. It was awesome, I think he changed his primary objective. We also taught a Lawyer friend of his wife who was over about the Book of Mormon and she said she would read it. Yay.

Thursday was Andrea Gomez`s birthday. She is a karate girl. Anyways we ate at her house for lunch and then went over to the church to eat the cake with the ward. But somehow, to my dismay, the young women`s room was locked. Not sure how, but there is no key to that room, and it can only be unlocked from the inside. Andrea tried breaking the door, some other leaders tried picking the lock, somebody else tried getting through the window, but nothing worked. Then just by a simple kick at an angle against the door handle Elder Singson broke the lock and opened the door. The door isn`t very broken either, I just broke it enough. It sill opens and shuts and you can lock it if you really try, so I win. Just goes to prove that Karate is worthless and TaekWonDo is the best. I haven`t won 3 Gold medals in the National Karate Tournament, but Who opened the door? The 1st Dan in TaekWonDo did.
Anyways that night we taught Sergio`s wife. She is a lawyer so I started out with "How many witnesses do you need to prove something in a trial?" Then I threw in. "Everybody teaches from the Bible and can twist is which ever way they want it, but with Another Testament of Jesus Christ (The Book of Mormon) we can now of a surety what is the truth. That lesson went extremely well. My comp did take the lesson off topic with tithing so we couldn`t invite them to be baptized because the spirit was gone, but we`ll do it next time.

Friday was interviews with President Callan. He helped me see my purpose of being with Elder Yaringaño. When he told me he felt that I needed to make sure he learns and obeys all the mission rules and that I need to teach him how to teach, I felt the spirit. I was humbled greatly this past week. Especially during District Meeting and General Conference. We didn`t get back until 4 and then Mutual was at 6, so we didn`t get much done.
Saturday was a baptism that the other Elders had. It`s an old lady who was very Catholic. The only people that came were the 4 Elders, 2 investigators, and a recent convert. Pretty sad. You think that a Rama would appreciate a new member baptism more.
Paraguay is the only Country in the world where the weather determines if you go to work or not. So imagine how the rain affected the turnout Sunday. Yeah only 18 people and we could find absolutely nobody to teach.
Raquel couldn`t come because she got chicken pox and Sonia didn`t come because of the weather. I don`t like rain as a missionary.

I bid thee well,
Elder Zachary James Singson

October 3, 2011

Every week when I read my journal to write to you guys I always think ``Wow that happened last week? I thought that happened a month a go... or maybe never I can`t tell``  Anyways here`s what I wrote in my journal but don`t remember about.

So on Tuesday (Whether in this life or in another I do not know) we went to a rich military guy`s house. He is an investigator... I think. Really he just wants to learn English, but I think we can get him interested about learning the Gospel. They fed us lunch while we were there. They are a great family, but watching them makes me realize that wealth isn`t happiness. They were fighting and arguing about a small problem about their car the whole time we were there. At least you have a car, geez. The guy must be really prideful cuz he named his two sons Sergio, just like him.

On wednesday we found a family to teach. It was going great until the guy said he believes in Saints, like San Miguel Arch Angel, and in the miracles they perform. His belief wasn`t the problem. The problem was that my comp decided to change the topic of the lesson, The Restoration, and bible bash the guy to try and Make Him change his beliefs. There still may be hope, but it will be a lot harder to open up his heart because now he is on the defensive, when before he was open. My comp always pulls crap like that and I always say, lets just get through the lesson and resolve their doubts another day, he agrees with me, but then he just does it again.
Hno Gamba got attacked by a dog. A big dog. The owners just watched as it happened and aren`t helping him. The dog nearly tore out his Achilles tendon and that would have resulted in death, but the owners only got mad and him and said that he just wants them to pay for the hospital bill so he can do nothing all day. People like that upset me. Supposedly they were friends too and that's why the Hno was over there to help them with a project.

Thursday for Plan Guasu all my comp did was complain about the area and the mission and the members, so I planned by myself. Then we ate lunch at the Flia Gomez`s. Unfortunately she was uninformed that the other two Elders would be joining us and she became very grouchy. We discovered an ant infestation in our room. They are coming in through the roof and falling from the ceiling. But Where may I ask? You guessed it, on my bed. Not on Elder Yaringaño`s, but only mine. We sprayed the ceiling with Permitherine and swept up the dead ants.
We went to a guy`s house, Nestor, who has come to church twice now, but we couldn`t teach him because there was a freaking San Miguel day Parade where they went through the streets worshiping and Praying to san miguel and making lots of noise. Ugh. Then at night we taught Sonia Nestor`s ``Girlfriend`` Who has come to church twice as well. It was insane. She was like Sandra Bullock on ``All about Steve``. She would take any one subject we were trying to talk about and then talk about a thousand other somewhat related things. It was super hard and frustrating to teach her. The only good thing about the lesson is she understands her commitment to read and pray and find out if the church is the only true church. She needs to find out soon because we gave her Fecha the 22nd. Did I mention she has dreams about Christ in a garden, so she thinks that she can talk with him in visions? Yeah it`s going to be a tough one.

Friday we went to do service, but somebody had already done it, so we went back home to find MORE ANTS! They are now falling from a different spot in the ceiling. So I sprayed the entire ceiling and now I`m out of Permitherine. To this day dead ants fall onto me bed. It is really hard to sleep at night with that going on. We visited the Sick, a lady named Adela, and she said she can`t continue anymore cause she is too sick. So I told her about the spirit world and that she Has to talk to the missionaries there. She took it really well. She will permit her daughter to go to church though. Then we visited the afflicted Hna Balbuena who suffers from inactive family syndrome. She is worried that she will never have an Eternal Family. Sad day. Then we went to Noche de Rama.

Saturday was Conference we only missed the Priesthood session because it broadcasted at 8pm and it would take us 2 hours to get back from Coronel Olviedo afterwards. We watched conference on the TV at the church. We ate at a restaurant for Lunch and then Lomitos (Burrito things) for dinner, but accomplished nothing because my comp ``Gives up``.
Sunday we watched the conference and Raquel came and sat down right next to me and because my comp was sitting behind us we were the only ones on that row and the 5 rows in front of us. The people that came to watch from Paso Jovai looked at us like we were boyfriend girlfriend. How embarrassing. My comp is supposed to protect me from snakes not sit behind me and watch them pray on me. Dang it. She really wants me, that has never happened before. I`m not why she likes me either, I don`t even really talk to her and we only see her on sunday. How annoying. Because my comp won`t plan with me then won`t follow the plans I made we get nothing accomplished. It sucks.

Well I`m sorry I complain a lot, but I hate ants falling on my bed when I`m trying to sleep.

Ta ta,
Elder Zachary James Singson

September 26, 2011

First off, my companion is annoying. Please pray that I can bear with him and have love towards him even though I don`t want to.

Secondly, The only real difference between Villa Rica and other areas is that this is the place where Divorced mothers, Single mothers, Rich, and Retired old people congregate. It is somewhat more Campo than Obligado was, but there aren`t as much trees, just more sand like in Asuncion.

Monday it rained, so we couldn`t do any activities. I just sat bored reading the New Testament all day. Later when we went out to teach it stopped raining. We had an appointment with Raquel our only progressing investigator. We talked a long time with a 18 year old named Jonotan and we finally got him and his brother to come with us, so we wouldn`t be alone with her. After all our hard work and Jedi mind tricks she called and told us she was sick. Dang it. For some reason Jonotan thought we moved the cita for the next day, so he was waiting for us for an hour. That was cool. The family is Gamba and they were all really active before their parents separated. They separated so the dad could get baptized cuz he can`t get divorced from his old wife. Sad huh? Anyways because the appointment was canceled we did a family night with them.

Tuesday was district meeting. Sunday was Elder Sanderson`s Bday and Last week Hermana Lewis had her Bday too so we ate at a restaurant. While we were there we named off all 151 Pokèmon from the origional set. It all started because I showed them the picture that Marisa drew me, so I blame it on her cuz she drew that picture. I really like it though, Thanks Marisa, ha ha. The Hermanas now think that we are such nerds, but Hermana Lewis joined it towards the end. Her name is Misty, just like one of the main characters on Pokèmon. Hermana Lavaka is from Tonga and she never conjugates her verbs and she has been out for more than a year, ha ha. I`m with Elder Weekly again, but he`s more mature now. His companion is Elder Lorenzen, he`s a weirdo, ha ha.

Wednesday we ate at Flia.Mercado`s house and this time the kids were watching Naruto, so we had a Ninja battle after lunch. We taught the old guy Benigno, but he isn't willing to come to church even if somebody comes to pick him up. He says he doesn't want to leave his house, but then he told us he always leaves on sunday. Basically he thinks that Grace alone will save him and he doesn't have to do anything cuz he`s old. I don`t know why he doesn't want to come to church, he always complains that he`s lonely. Solution! Come to church and make friends with all the other old people. Gosh! We had to drop him, but at least we taught him the Plan of Salvation and explained how the Spirit World works and how he`s going to get taught there.
Later that night we finally taught the Flia.Lewa. Anival (Dad), Romi (Mom), Ariel (21yr Son), Ada (20yr Fiancee of Ariel...Somewhat Fiancee), Melly (19yr Daughter), and Vicente (8yr Son). The lesson went great, a little too long, but they are really good. They parents did throw out the "I've already been baptized excuse", but the kids have no problem and the parents aren't against listening and seeing what happens. So we`ll see how my Jedi mind tricks will help us this time.

Thursday my comp was sick, so Plan Guasu didn't happen. When we went to eat lunch at Flia Gomez`s he didn't eat much then we went home and threw up, so that did him no good. He wanted to work a little even though he felt bad, but all that ended up happening was he taught a random old guy, who doesn't even have drinking or smoking problems, the Word of Wisdom. In my opinion he had no idea what he was doing. We also taught Hector, but the lesson wasn't the best ever. He talked too much about who knows what and Hector was in a hurry to go to school, so he was nervous and the invitations we gave him weren't powerful. Wasn't a terrible lesson though, felt the spirit.

Friday we went to Flia.Gamba to invite them to Mutual. We ended up having pull up, push up, arm wrestling, and stick pull competitions. I won all of them except arm wrestling, those kids have huge arms. I went undefeated 10 times in a row with stick pull, we broke their wooden broom though. I bought them another. For mutual aka Noche de Rama I ended up having to bake brownies and make sure the little kids didn't destroy the ping pong table. Basically I was babysitting. When I went outside I walked over half the basketball court on my hands. I could have kept going, but I lost balance when I tried to turn around to walk the other way.

Saturday before lunch we felt prompted to visit a random house. We found a old guy, Santo; a really sick lady, Adela (His wife); a fourteen year old, Karina (Their only daughter); and another old somewhat sick lady, Antonia. Anyways we taught them the Plan of Salvation. It didn't really have a base to it, but they felt good and that`s whats important right?
I don`t know why my companion does this, but when we visited Hector and his sister Rosa he decided to randomly throw out The Law of Chastity. It was really kinda dumb, because Hector had to work and their neighbors were over. Mauro, his girlfriend Marlene, and her brother Cristobal didn't really like the lesson, but they understood it. They just thought it was awkward. Fortunately Rosa liked it and agrees with us. I doubt Mauro will let us teach him again though.

Sunday 36 people came to church, including Raquel by herself. I don`t like the situation, but we have to teach her and help her get baptized. I gave a talk on faith. I took up 20min so Elder Sanderson didn't have to speak. I suck at playing hymns, but they suck worse at singing. I tag teamed the Plan of Salvation, with Elder Sanderson, to the investigator`s class. I love using the chalk board. The lesson was stupendous. I with I had that great of unity with my comp. After eating lunch with Flia.Gomez we played Uno for an hour and I won 7 times.

Love Ya`ll,
Elder Zachary James Singson

September 19, 2011

Well to begin.

Because of the great amount of Zone Leaders going home this and next change I thought that I would become a zone leader soon. Not really what I want but I was expecting it. Just barely President Callan wrote me and said that I would probably be in Villarrica for a while. I don`t like that. It`s not like I don`t like it here, or my companion or anything, but there are a TON of Snakey teenage girls and attractive at that. We even have a few progressing investigators that are single girls. It`s not like I`m tempted or anything, but I just don`t like this type of situation. When I`m not in the service of God the girls could care less, but now when I don`t want any attention from girls they are all over me. It sucks.

Anyways on monday I got a haircut. The lady had no idea what she was doing. It was like she had never cut guy`s hair before. When I got home I had to go to the mirror and fix it. It turned out good, but I just think it was kind of dumb. Tuesday I had the great fortune of actually going to a district meeting. It`s been a while. 21 guaranis round trip though. We have hermanas in our district and rumor has it that we will also get hermanas in Villarrica. We taught two not so good lessons and one really good one. One was to Nestor who understood the concept of Authority and when we invited him to get baptized he asked `because you are the only ones who have the authority?` When we said yes he got up and started to walk away. The other not so good lesson was to a lady who is ``Too Old to change her religion``. I just want to say THIS ISN`T POLOTICS! But we did get to teach Francisco Leva who understood everything and even accepted Fecha. So that made me happy. Francisco is really awesome.
Wednesday I had to endure Elder Yaringaño dominating every lesson and going off topic and taking an hour and etc. I tried telling him how he needs to improve his teaching method but he doesn`t take my advice. He thinks his way is better. We ate lunch at the Flia Mercado`s house. They had the animated Book of Mormon stories on DVD and we watched that while we ate. It was cool. We always eat with the other Elders.
Plan Guasu on Thursday is always slow going with no investigators. We ate Lunch at the Flia Gomez. We arrived late because my comp is really slow at doing everything, but especially when he goes to the bathroom. We talked to a recent convert Miriam de Silvero for an hour outside of her house. She doesn't have a testimony of the Book of Mormon or the Prophet Joseph Smith. Basically she was just convinced to get baptized. We want to help her, but she doesn't like to read she just wants everything explained to her.
Friday morning I did morning exercise for the first time in who knows how long. We went to the lake and ran. I found out why the door bell at the Hospedaje rings so much. I was told by a catholic lady that instead of teaching her we need to help some prostitutes that live near by. Well I just think she wants us dead because the Prostitutes have killed people for money before. Nobody came to Mutual and we made 3 packs of brownies, so I ate them all Ha ha ha ha!
Saturday it rained so it was a really uneventful day. Sunday we had a investigator come to church for the first time since I've had a baptism. Her name is Raquel and the funny thing is we haven`t even taught her yet. Her only connection to the church is that her brother in law is a member. But she really liked it. She`s never been baptized before and she says she really likes the church so I hope she gets a testimony of the Book of Mormon really quick. Not a lot of people came to church because of the rain, so I was embarrassed by her comment ``There aren't a lot of you here are there?``. They also made me play the piano and I sucked it up super bad. It was even the simplified version. The lady conducted was too fast for me to keep up, and nobody can sing worth their lives. How embarrassing.

Well that was my week,
Elder Zachary James Singson

September 12, 2011

Hello Again Family,

Well this is the fourth area I´ve been in where I´ve had to start over in looking for new investigators. So I`m used to that already.
I`m suprised I live in the city. I was told that Villa Rica was all campo. I guess they were wrong.
We live in a little house on the second floor, above a lawer, located on the streets Azara and Mscal Lopez.
Micah, Where is my music?
Nobody has written from their personal emails yet. I can`t respond personally like somebody wanted me to without them.

I really don`t know what to say besides my comp acts like an annoying little brother. Not like Micah, but like an adopted brother. Elder Yaringaño has only one more change than me. He`s from Lima Peru, but he has Japanese ancestry. Besides that I know absolutely nothing about this area. We tried talking to some members, but so far nobody has been available to give us references. For a place that has a Capilla I don`t understand how there is only 40 people who come to church on sundays and how almost all of them are women. Why are there so many girls in Paraguay? Where are the Future Elders?

We share the area with Elder Anderson and Elder Sanderson. They are cool. Elder Sanderson is going to finish his mission soon. He`s from Utah. He`s funny and nice. Elder Anderson is new, so he doesn`t speak well and understand everything yet. He`s from Arizona. He`s tall, but he doesn`t like basketball. Weird I know. He`s funny and nice too.

I honestly don`t know what to say. There has been a lot of nothing on my end. We`ve only taught 2 lessons. One guy didn`t like us and the other is too old to understand (and or hear) anything. We only get 1 or 2 lunch appointments a week. But the food is cheaper, so thats good. I`m out of money and I don`t know how long it will take to reemburse it. The trip drained me of all my money and I only have enough to buy food for the next week. I had to pay for a bunch of other crap that the past Elders never paid too. But honestly I have no idea where all my money went. I might have to pull out some personal money again. I hate that.

I`m not sad that I left my last area, but I am suprised. This will be a fun new experience.

Emotionlessly,
Elder Zachary James Singson
(I feel like a zombie, I need a haircut)

September 5, 2011

Dear Family,

I just found out that I got changed to a new area. I´m reopening a new area. I´m suprised cuz I´m not district leader anymore. I´m going to the Kau´Guasu which is inbetween Asuncion and Ciudad del Este. I´m in zone 8 an area called Villa Rica 1.2. I´m going to be with Elder Yaringaño from my district here. Honestly I think God is punishing me again. Elder Yaringaño is super childish, prideful, and annoying. Ugh. I don´t mean to be negative, but we did so much work and I was expecting to stay and get at least 1 more baptism. Now Elder Gillette is District Leader with a guy that has less time than him. It´ll be interesting.

Anyways here was my week. On Tuesday I spilled yellow paint on me when I was trying to get the cap off. I tried to wash it off immediately, but it´s still there. Not too noticable, but yeah you can see it. At least it didn´t get on my tie. Just my pants and shirt. After changing clothes we went to Jose and Gladis. It was a very interesting lesson. They said that they will pray and stuff, but they want to be Posotivo and not just Sure before they get baptized. Jose said that "if you get baptized and go back to the way things were it doesn´t serve you. You have to go to church every Sunday and do your best". With an answer like that I hope he gets baptized.

On wednesday we taught a group of indigenous people. The lesson was good until one of the guys started trying to pull off the shirt of this one girl. We ended that one early. I shook hands with one girl and she tickled my hand with her middle finger, That means I want to break the law of chastity with you. Yeah we´re never going back there. We finally found the place that sells good and cheap food (One of the reasons I´m upset I got changed). A family that we gave fecha dropped us today. We knocked on their door after clapping the house for a long time. We knew they were home. So after knocking the dad answered the door and said "This is the first and last time you will knock on my door. I´m not interested. Me and my family are staying Catholic. I wasn´t upset I just want to know why everybody accepts fecha if they don´t like us. We must teach too powerfully with the spirit or something.
That night I got a call from Elder Reyes in Natalio. He told me that Elder Yaringaño got hit by a Moto. He didn´t break anything but after getting sideswiped his leg swelled up and he couldn´t walk on it. I told him to call Hna Callan and go to a members house and get a blessing. He was walking fine again the next day.

Thursday We did divisions so I could do two baptismal interviews. Elder Yaringaño said he was well enough to go with Elder Gillette back to Obligado. So I stayed with Elder Reyes. We taught only women and girls. Thankfully Sergio a recent convert who is preparing for a mission came with us. I helped one girl accept Fecha. I taught lesson one to one girl and got her friend who previously wasn´t interested to let the missionaries pass by and teach her too. I was basically working the place. Compared to Obligado Natalio 10 is cake. Unfortunately we couldn´t find the baptismal interview'ees. Elder Gillette called me a billion times to tell me how annoying Elder Yaringaño was being and how he really missed me. (That also became annoying).

Friday morning Jefferson, one of the guys who needed an interview called us and told us that he´ll be at his house at 10:30am  so we delayed the trip back to Obligado till 1. Unfortunately he never showed until we left. The bright side is I got to talk to a girls mom who wasn´t going to get her baptized until shes 18. So, in 6 years. After talking to her and testifying with the spirit not only did I convince her to pray to ask God if her daughter should get baptized, but I also convinced her to get taught by the missionaires as well.
It was like on Star Wars when Obi-Wan tells the Storm Troopers "These aren´t the Droids you´re looking for". After asking her how she felt the mom said "I feel compelled by something to let my daughter to get baptized, but I would still like to pray about it".
After hearing that I basically told her that once she see´s her daughters baptism and talk to the missionaries she will want to get baptized too. She just said "Si" to everything I said. She looked like she was about to cry. I felt like a Jedi with Force Persuasion powers.
When I finally got back to Obligado 5pm we found a guy who we´ve been looking for since July. Miguel Florentine. He was drunk when we talked to him, but he said he wants to follow the church that his mother was faithful too (Mom Falleció). Anyways we taught him and now he has fecha. The rest of his family are members so I don´t think it will be too hard to baptize him.

On Saturday we taught a couple of lessons, but it was hard to teach because for some odd reason I had a crazy allergy attack. My eyes were itchy and red, I had a super uncontrollable runny nose, and I was sneezing literally every five seconds. That kind of sucked. Juan Karapuni

Sunday we taught our first official lesson with Hna P. and Bibi. It didn´t go nearly as planned. After the guy we were teaching started talking about the 2 black and 2 white angels things started getting out of hand. Bibi basically taught the entire lesson in 10 minutes and we didn´t get a word in. At least we were invited to return, but next time the missionaries will be in control. Only 20 Came to Church.

That's all about me week, but I got your package and looked at the photos and all I got to say is...
Wow Kayley doesn´t look little anymore. How tall are you¿
Micah´s hair was super long and Elder Gillette said that you are the man.
Marisa looks the same, but I really liked the dress you wore.

I´m out of time,

August 29, 2011

So here´s my adventures this week,
Monday we taught our favorite family, the Flia Cabañas. They are really our best family we got. They just need to come to church and get baptized. Ugh. For some reason that´s the hardest part.

On Tuesday we taught Juan Karapuni. He is in his 20 and is known by others for being a delinquent, but the funny thing is he accepted a baptismal date and everything. Again the only problem is coming to church. That night we had family night with Flia Acosta so we could have a lesson with a member. Hna Presentación´s son Gustavo and his friend Hugo (somewhat rebellious) were both shocked when we told them that Juan Karapuni was going to get baptized. Nobody believed us. Even though we came that night to teach Hugo we basically did nothing. The whole time Hna. P and her daughter Bibi basically taught the lesson. They taught about the Book of Mormon and the Law of Chastity. An interesting combination, they used Alma 39.

Wednesday we taught Jose and Gladis. This couple is very good, but they aren´t very good at progressing. If they still don´t progress after teaching lesson 2 we will have to drop them. The biggest problem, again, is going to church. This time the reason is a couple of years ago Jose got into an accident and now he is in a wheelchair. They don´t have a car and I don´t think that the wheelchair will roll very well on Empedrado. The hardest part for us will be carrying his to the second floor so he can get inside. It will be interesting if they go.

Thursday was really great because it was a special Zone Conference with Elder Arnold from the 70. He taught us a lot of good stuff. Maybe one day you will be able to read my notes to see what I learned, but there is definitely not enough space, or time, to write it in an email. The biggest thing that impacted me was The Law of Obedience, Sacrifice, and Consecration; and what we have to do to live them and what impedes us. We ate legitimate Chinese food for lunch and there was even enough to eat two full servings. I was so happy :D. After we got back (We left at 6 to get there on time and we got back at 5) we taught a lesson to the Flia Cabrera. Last time we were there we only talked to Christian Cabrera and Victor, his friend. This time the entire family was there. Carlor, Silvia, Cristian, and Rosana Cabrera, plus Victor and his brother Daniel, and their friend Ronald. We taught them all and gave them Fecha.

Friday we found some Antiguo Investigadores. They are totally ready to get baptized, but the only problem is the wife has to get divorced from her first husband, which is expensive, and then remarried before they can do that. Too bad because they went to the church for an entire year before they moved to Argentina. We also taught a guy named Silvio and we got him to say a kneeling prayer. That was cool.

Saturday sucked because the dumb Catholic Church was hosting some kind of pary and everybody was drinking. There was also a Rally in another area and everybody was watching that. Then the Police were holding a special funeral "We´re sorry" service because a policeman accidentally shot/killed a guy and there were tons of people there for that too. So basically we only taught one lesson. Fortunately to Juan and Martina a couple we gave fecha once (It fell though). The lesson was kinda awkward and I didn´t really feel the spirit until Martina told us that she always feels good and feels joy whenever we come over and share the gospel with her. That made me feel the Spirit and I felt really good to know that the investigator recognized that she felt it whenever we came over. The lesson ended well, but they didn´t accept a specific baptismal date.
Finally sunday really sucked because the Catholic party carried over and so did the rally. We didn´t offically teach anybody and all of our important appointments fell. It made me sad. Fortunately 42 people came to church including Hna P´s less active daughter Gabi, Gabi´s boyfriend Hugo (A different Hugo than the one previously mentioned), and Gustavo. Our Dueña had an Asado and gave us some for Lunch. Yay¡ From now on we can only eat at Hna P´s house 2 days a week max. :´(

August 22, 2011

Monday- We had Noche de Hogar with Hna Presentacion and Bibi and Bibi´s boyfriend, David. (Wow I can see my breath right now, it´s that cold¡) I don´t think people realize how torturous it is to act all "lovey dovey" around missionaries. The one thing we want most and can´t have, but it´s sitting in front of you taunting and laughing¡!¡ Thats not nice. It sucked that´s all I´m going to say.
Tuesday- It was really hot and I had a headache, so to make it go away I drank 6 liters of water. All that ended up doing was make my Kidneys hurt, and increase the number of times I had to go to the bathroom. The headache didn´t even go away, not fair. That night we taught a family we contacted, Ana y Roberto. Roberto is a Mechanic and he has his "Taller" (Shop) at his house. They are neighbors and friends of Soraida and Ruben another great family we taught. They have three cute daughters Dihana (7), Daisy (3), and Analia (6months). Analia is so chubby and so cute it was hard to focus on the lessons. Plus she has more energy than the energizer battery and sqwiggles and squirms around so much that she is a distraction in and of herself. Anyways it was a really good lesson. They aren´t very good listeners, so we constantly were asking them questions to keep them involved and focused. We got up to about the end of Joseph Smith´s vision when a guy came in with an emergency repair, so we didn´t get to invite them to be baptized like we wanted. Sad day, we ended with a prayer and asked the wife to make sure he reads the pamphlet.

Wednesday- We talked to a crazy guy named Selzo again. Last time we talked he started off the conversation like this,
Us- "Permiso estamos buscando alguien."
Selzo- "Konichi wah"
Us- "Si... Mucho Gusto. Usted Habla Castellano?"
Selzo- "Ustedes hablan Japones o no?"
Us- "no..."
Selzo- "Bueno, ustedes hablan Espanish? Solo un poco verdad. ¿De donde son?
Basically from there he talked to us about a bunch of nonsense for half an hour, then he finally helped us out and gave us a return appointment to talk to him. I knew that teaching him was futile because he is so crazy, but my companion thinks he is super hilarious se we "have" to see him again. This time he started off the conversation the exact same way except instead of asking us if we knew Japanese he asked us when are we going to learn it. Weird guy. He predicted our futures for us. He says that I´ll be a psychologist and Elder Gillette a Lawyer. Also because he can´t say Elder to save his life he just calls us 'Psycologist' and 'Lawyer'. I could probably write about the craziness of this guy for hours, but I won´t. The biggest question in my mind was if you really were a personal escort of the Dictator President Strossner why are you doing here and why are you poor? He has proof, but I still kinda doubt it. He´ll have to tell us the story someday.

Thursday- It started to rain, but we got 2 lessons in. Woo!
Friday- It continued raining. But we gave an old sick guy a blessing and talked about the plan of Salvation. I doubt he´ll progress, but we wont find out till we teach him lesson 1. We also taught a Cool guy named Juan Karapuñe. Although he looks like a punk he is really receptive and he accepted a baptismal date.

Saturday- The rain cleared up, but now it´s freezing cold again. We promised a member that we would visit him, so we went to Los Colonos an hour walk away. It sucked because there was a pipe that broke and he had to fix it, so he wasnt even there. We taught an antiguo investigador and tried to get him to come to church, but he didn´t. The rest of the day sucked because all our appointments weren´t there. How frustrating.
Sunday- 40 people in church, but 0 investigators, so now we lost all 10 people who had a baptismal date. ¿Why doesn´t anybody go to church¡? It isn´t hard and it isn´t far and you PROMISED that you would come¡!¡ You will never make it to the Celestial Kingdom with that kind of attitude¡!¡ ¡!¡DAH¡!¡ *sob* now we won´t have any baptisms in this change either. ¿What if I get transferred? I won´t be able to see all my hard work pay off¡ **Double Sob**
Silver Lining we did teach a really good lesson to our best investigators Luciano and Hermania and we committed them to going to church after showing them the importance of it. Commandment + Blessings + Consequences + Blessings + Testimony + Promising Blessings = Success. They also say they want to get baptized and go to the temple, so thats good too. =D

That was my week. I liked hearing about Youth Conference from Micah and Mom. Mom told the spiritual side and Micah told the funny side, so I got the whole picture. I really liked when Braden threw the Javelin and broke the light and Micah said that there was a *gasp* and *silence*, then Mom started laughing. Ha ha, That´s funny.

Anyways, Take Luck¡

August 15, 2011

Hey guess what¿ I got a letter from John and Tammy. I´m going to write them back because it´s my first official letter. I´ve gotten letters from Gma and Gpa, but they came inside of packages, so they still only count as packages.
Anyways Elder Gillette saw the name Schroeppel on the front and he said "hey do you know an Emily Schroeppel¿"
I said "yes".
Then he said "yeah I went out with her once at byu, we went to 'Roscos Chicken and Waffles'. Also her mom went to my same school in California, so she came to my house once."
'I thought wow it´s a small world after all.'

Here´s a brief of my week.
Monday: I mopped the house, Elder Gillette "Helped". The funny thing is that I didn´t even need to use water. It´s so hot and humid now that everything was just wet. It was really gross to see all the brown water, lint, and hair that I mopped up. I was suprised by how much water, lint, and hair came out from under our beds. Mopping in Paraguay is basically just using a squegee to push all the water down the shower drain.

Tuesday: We had district meeting. It was supposed to be my first time teaching it, but the Zone Leaders came to teach and do divisions. Elder Rockwood had a lot of important appointments, so we didn´t even stay for district meeting. We got to Encarnacíon around 12, but we spent 4 hours in an area that got reopened. Elder Rockwood was in that area just before it closed, so he was exited to work in it a year later when it reopened. I had to lug around me stuff the entire time.
Basically we had 4 lessons with member and the members did all the teaching. I wish we had enough active members to do that. The only time we talked was to change the subject from one principle to another. I got and ate in one night the package Grandma Schroeppel sent.

Wednesday: Elder Gillette and I ate at burger king before we went back into our area, good; but all our appointments fell through, bad.

Thursday: We taught 4 lessons and found 7 future elders and 11 people in total. We invited them all to be baptized and 5 of them have a fecha bautismal.

Friday: We taught our progressing investigators Luciano and Hermania. Luciano´s sister recently died so we taught him the Plan of Salvacíon. The lesson went well, he wants to go to the temple and baptize his sister. Also now he realizes that babies can´t sin, so he needs to get baptized again now that it´s his choice. They won´t be able to come to church because the funeral for his sister is on sunday at the same time, so we´ll have to push their baptismal date back a week, but I´m almost posotive that they´ll get baptized before the end of this change.

Saturday: We taught English class. We changed the day again. Only Luciano´s kids showed up. Bibi, Hna P´s daughter didn´t come because she was with her boyfriend. We changed the day especially for her cuz she begged us and now she doesn´t even come¿ Ridiculous¡ David is a cool guy though I don´t know why they both couldn´t have come to English class. Oh well.
Sunday: Because of a District Conference we had 58 people in church and David bought meat for an Asado. So all is well.

Holas Familia,

This week was really quite pathetic.

On monday I bought a cell phone battery to put into my new music player. I later found out that you aren´t supposed to charge the player with the battery inside. You are supposed to charge it only in a phone. So the battery exploded. It didn´t brake it just expanded and when I pulled it out it started sparking. It was interesting and now I know that if something has instructions in English you better follow them.

Tuesday we taught a part member family. The guy is like 20 and the girl, who isn´t a member is 17. They both are good, but what I want to know is why didn´t he marry one of the members. There is an overexessive amount of member girls and no priesthood, So why didn´t he just marry one of them? Anyways we taught Janet and she was really receptive. We didn´t invite her to be baptized though. Maybe next time. While we were out and about my companion felt prompted to visit a family who we haven´t seen in a while because of their crazy schedules. We found Aldo at his house with a broken wrist. He crashed on his moto on Saturday only two days ago. I hope our visit helped him out. Later in the week he had surgery and 5 screws were put in his arm. It´ll take about 6 months to heal, so he won´t be playing the guitar for a while. He hasn´t red the Book of Mormon yet and I doubt he´ll ever accept the Gospel, but I hope we can help him out for future reference.

Wednesday the only lesson we taught was to a Less active family. We spent literally 2 hours of talking to people that basically want nothing to do with us. Man this area is tough.

Thursday was better. We taught a lesson to a couple named Soraida and Ruben. Ruben was willing to "hear", but he didn´t really "listen" and he got absolutely nothing out of it. Soraida, even though she was taking care of a walking baby and a very demanding little girl, learned a lot. I´m pretty sure she understands almost everything except for the importance of the prophet Joseph Smith. She thinks his vision was a cool example of how God answers prayers. Which is good, but imagine how much she could learn if we had her full attention. She even understood how to pray just from looking at the pamphlet and helped her husband say the last prayer. It was cool. Later we found a family in a semi chuchi house. They look dirt poor though and only the dad speaks Spanish. It was interesting, but the other days when we passed by they all hid from us. So much for the baptismal date we gave them.

Friday was interesting. So we taught a family who we contacted before, the husband wouldn´t and the wife wouldn´t commit. She blatently told us that she couldn´t give us a return appointment because that would be a commitment and she has her own religion, so she can´t do that. She said she would read the pamphlet, but she wouldn´t commit to pray about it. Because of that lesson we were 20 minutes late to another appointment with our Progressing Investigators, Luciano and Hermania Cabañas. They were waiting outside for us and I felt kinda bad that we were late, but I´m pretty darn sure that they are going to get baptized.

Saturday sucked. It was another day of contacting people that dislike us. ¿What did we do? Anyways we got 0 lessons in.

Sunday was better because we had 36 people show up for church. It´s funny because the one time the Brach President can´t come and we get good attendance. We broke fast at the house and passed up eating with Hna.P to get to work right away. We cranked out 3 lessons with Hno.Foltz, but unfortunately none of them were promising. The first lesson was to a lady who is an Eternigator from Encarnacíon. The second was with a Menos Activo family whose dad was drunk, and their grandpa (who is also an Eternigator) really only understands Guarani. The last one was to a family who´s mom had a cerebral hemmrige. We gave her a blessing and then taught the Plan of Salvation. It was my first time actually doing the blessing instead of just the anointing. The family listened, but it will be hard to help the dad progress because he believes all the religions are true.
Unfortunately after 3 lessons with member all our other plans fell through. So I made fried Ramen at Hna.P´s house cuz we skipped out on lunch. Man this area is tough. We are basically reopening it.

Anyways. Love Ya´ll,
Elder Zachary James Singson

August 1, 2011

Here are these weeks events. Monday I bought 60 eggs. Hna Callan said that's the best way to gain weight back because it´s cheap. Unfortunately after hard boiling 15 of them I put them in the fridge and 9 of them turned to ice. Strange because being hard boiled that shouldn´t have happened. Anyways we taught a guy who was drunk last week and his wife a nurse. They were really good (Being Sober) and we gave them a baptismal date. Because of the lesson we came late for Noche de Hogar, so the family was tired and boring. We ended up in a better mood towards the end, but everyone was tired when we started. I ate almost 20 empenadas by myself and then my birthday cake you sent me.
It was yummy, but especially the frosting. They have cake mix here, but nobody knows how to make frosting. You should send me brownie and brownie frosting recipe and cake frosting recipe because Hna Presentacion´s daughter always makes cakes. Elder Richards and Elder Yaringño came over at 11. Elder Richards was hungry so he ate some food and we all talked until 2 am. I say it´s justifiable because he´s going home. He´s probably still sleeping in his bed asleep as we speak.

So because Elder Richards was really nervous about leaving he got up at 6 and made us an omelet of 4 eggs each. Good thing I bought those 60 eggs yesterday. I got up at 6:30 and talked to him about all his worries and stuff. Elder Yaringaño and Elder Gillette stayed asleep until 8. When they woke up it took forever for everybody to get ready especially because they were all messing around, so we had a really short District Farewell Meeting. Afterwards we ate lunch at Hna P´s and he said goodbye to everybody. Afterwards we basically just spent the day doing last minute things for Elder Richards.
At 5 he went to visit his convert who moved here. The only ones who cried were Mirta (the convert) and Elder Gillette. Elder Richards and Yaringaño were sad, but they didn´t cry. Afterwards we helped him get all his bags to the road to catch a bus. Then he was gone. Now I´m the new District Leader and I now I don´t have a friend on my mission anymore. There have been a lot of cool Elders that I have met, but Elder T Rich is the only person, besides my MTC group, that I would hang out with after the mission.

Wednesday sucked because my comp was (and is still) super depressed that Elder Richards is gone. He gets really attached and so it´s hard to let go. Probably because his dad died at 15. He is super empathetic with people because of that too. It´s a good attribute, something I definitely don´t have. We did service for Hna P and ate lunch, but Elder Gillette needed some sleep time, so I was sympathetic. We still taught 2 lessons. We even gave someone Fetcha, but we later found out that he might already be a member.

The next day we did Plan Guasu and then I treated my comp to Pizza Boom to try and make him feel better. We had to take the Mail to the Mailing office, so we were by it anyways, but when we got home he needed to rest again. We officially found out that Julio the guy we gave fetcha to is a member. Silver Lining is that his brother and dad are definitely not members, so he can help us teach them. My companion was upset that he was a member because he seemed like the golden investigator.

Friday was fun because I did exchanges to do Baptismal interviews for Natalio. It´s only my second time going there. We got there around 11am and my comp went with the Elder Yaringaño´s new comp Elder Reyes to get some food and go back to our area. I went with Elder Yaringaño to drop off my stuff at their house and then we went to a Member´s house to get lunch. Even though Natalio 10 is still a Rama they have a Capilla and it´s because the members actually help out. The old couple we ate lunch with are awesome. They always help the Elders teach lessons and they give them references all the time. The Old man is the Elders Quorum President.
After lunch I watched Elder Yaringaño clean the baptismal font and then it was time for the interview. The interview was kinda awkward cuz I wasn´t sure what to do. I shared Mosiah 18 and then talked about what a covenant is and after that I straight up just read the questions. I had to explain the meaning of a couple things, but she passed. We taught some lessons and it started to rain and it Lightninged like crazy. Every 10 seconds the sky lit up, which was good cuz it was dark and we didn´t have a flashlight.
We taught a lesson with the Elders Quorum President at his house. He sure does like to talk a lot. It was good that he was involved, but it was bad because he used fancy words without explaining them like Apostasy and Melchezidek Priesthood. He was talking in Guarani the whole time to, so I have no idea what kind of other stuff he was telling the investigator. We made our way over to the second interview in the rain. We picked up an investigator on the way there so Elder Yaringaño could teach her and we could kill two birds with one stone.
For the second interview I had a plan, but these plans were foiled by the fact that she doesn´t speak Spanish. She understands basic Spanish, but she can hardly speak. According to what the translator said she was saying she knows a lot about the Gospel though. She passed. Then I came out during the second half of the lesson to the investigator. By that time there was only an hour left till 9pm so we visited another investigator.
This part was really interesting. His name is Julio, his wife´s name in Antonia, but he named his kid... Washington Kennedy. This guy is obsessed with the United States and he is really wierd. He is basically a Costa Rican version of Hollywood from the Mannequin. Seriously he acts and look the same. He even has the same job. He is an interior designer for rich people, so he makes bank. Everything in his house has something to do with the United States on it. He even has a Giant US flag outside. He knows more about the economy and polotics than I do. The funniest thing is his wife is normal, so How does she put up with him?
Anyways after watching Baseball, Womens Boxing, BMX, The US stock market, etc. (All on PayPerView) while eating hot dogs and Orange flavored milk, we went home. It was a very hilarious experience.

Saturday we finished the changes. We left Natalio at 7am got to Obligado at 8:30am. We met up with our companions and the other Elders pulled out money and left at 9. Just like breaking necks it was quick and painless. Unlike all the other exchanges I´ve done with Natalio where we waste tons of time and get very little accomplished. Unfortunately my amazing efforts be not be a Macanero were destroyed because of lunch. We made our own lunch at 12, but Elder Gillette forgot that Hna P invited us for lunch. So after she called us and asked were we were, we went to her house and ate there too. Elder Gillette didn´t feel well so he rested at her house while I talked with Hna P.
Since it was Dia de la Amistad we had a party at the capilla at 3. Basically we didn´t get there until 4 because of messing around/ resting. Only the people who normally come to church on sunday came to the party, which is suprising, cuz when there is free food everybody usually comes. We invited a lot of people too, but I guess it was too "cold". After eating chorizo my comp needed to rest again. He still feels bad about Elder Richards leaving and talks about him all the time and thinks about what he is doing at home right now. Lately he has been taking my music player and sits in our room listening to music. I try to be productive. I got my District Leader Shades that I ordered. I wear them whenever I´m in District Leader mode. (Trying to be positive about my new assignment)

Basically because it was sprinkling out side with rain only 14 people came. We even went out during sunday school and looked for people. They all promised they would come if it stopped raining. Well, guess what. As soon as we got back to the capilla it stopped raining and it didn´t rain for the rest of the day, but still nobody showed up. Liars. I made them promise and they still lied. Anyways at lunch we wasted a long time because Elder Gillette had to wait 2 hours for a pie to get done. I suggested we come back at night and eat it then, but it was "almost done".
After lunch we went home at 4 and he went to bed. It was an "Accident". I would have woken him up, but I was listening to Motab and I fell asleep sitting up in my chair. Now that´s an Accident. Anyways I woke up at 6 because my battery died and we left and were blessed with two good lessons. Afterwards we went home and I took then passed numbers as district leader for the first time. I gave Elder Gillette a "Grace/Sympathy" period to mourn over the loss of Elder Richards, but times up.

Love ya,
Elder Zachary James Singson
